A Good
Day
Elena Ward has built her mornings around the small work her hands can still do. At an experimental neurology appointment, a familiar test becomes unexpectedly unfamiliar.
Before and after the test

A hand, a room, a record
Before the hospital, there's a mug that rattles against a spoon and five buttons that take the time they take. Elena's morning is built from adjustments that are private, practical, and hers.
At the clinic, the team measures what they can. Then a movement appears that nobody is ready to name.
This is speculative fiction. No real treatment or medical outcome is being described.

Open the opening passage
Elena Ward had learned to plan the distance between her hand and the coffee. Not because the cup was far away. Because the last few inches had become their own small negotiation.
“All right. No rush.”
She lifted the mug. Held it steady enough. The coffee was yesterday’s, reheated that morning. A little burnt at the edge. She drank it anyway.
